Heatwave coming to NE Ohio for the weekend

Posted

Mother Nature is loading up some impressive heat and will soon send it to Northern Ohio.

We've already seen 9 days at 90 degrees or above in Cleveland so far this year. That's the average number of 90 degree days for an entire warm season here along the Norther Coast.

But more heat is coming. A heat wave for Northern Ohio. A heat wave is defined as 3 or more days in a row of 90 degrees or higher.

A warm front will lift north of the area Thursday afternoon. This will allow temperatures to soar up close to 90 degrees by late afternoon (BELOW). On top of the that, humidity will sky rocket as well.

Friday looks to sizzle with high in the lower and middle 90s on the way (BELOW).

A weak cold front will try to slip south over us Friday night. That may knock down temperatures a few clicks on Saturday. But, we should get close to 90 degrees again that day as well.

And then there's Sunday. This could be the warmest day of the weekend and of the summer. The warmest reading of this summer so far in Cleveland was 95 degrees on July 13th. Sunday temperatures should meet or exceed that number in most spots (BELOW).

So, right now, we are looking at 3 or 4 more 90-degree days in the next 5 days. That would bring our total for the year up from 9 to 12 or 13. Right in line with our prediction of a warmer than average Summer! Stay cool!
