Northeast Ohio trick-or-treat forecast

and last updated

As the jack-o'-lanterns glow brightly and the ghoulish ghosts sway from the tree branches, area kids are getting anxious to finally slip into their favorite Halloween costume. While the young ones dream of a candy sack filled to the brim, many parents are wondering if the weather will be a trick-- or a treat--this weekend.

Let's gnaw on it day-by-day.

FRIDAY
Perhaps the best day to go out candy-grabbing. It will be warm in the afternoon and still comfortable in the evening. The wind may play a small factor, but no rain is expected until after 10 p.m. Evening temperatures will be in the lower 60s. Perfect weather to scare up some fun!

SATURDAY
Wet and much cooler. Perfect weather for a haunted house! Rain is likely in the morning through the early afternoon, making for soggy pumpkins and washed out witches. This may not be the best day for outdoor events, but could be perfect for those looking to stay inside.
When the rain moves out by the afternoon, it will remain frightfully cool. The clouds may break enough for a little sunshine. Keep in mine the ground may still be a little wet and muddy during prime trick-or-treat time. This could anger many mummies!

SUNDAY
Still damp and a bit ghouler...uh, cooler.
Lake effect showers and sprinkles may hug the lakeshore. And the clouds will linger like zombies in the night. Farther inland, it may wind up dry with a little sunshine.
Don't expect it to be very warm at all. Afternoon temperatures will only reach 50° at best. Most of the day will be spent in the 40s. Creepy cool!

Remember to keep younger kiddos dressed in brightly colored clothing this weekend. Halloween brings the most child-related car accidents thanks to kids running in front of vehicles. Drivers should be extra cautious and stay alert to young ones that may suddenly dart across the street.
