CLEVELAND — It’s going to be a hot one today as most of the News 5 viewing area will see near record temperatures on Tuesday.

Tuesday’s record is 89 degrees that was set back in 1914. We’ll be close to that record that has stood for over 100 years, according to the Power of 5 Weather team.

A thunderstorm or two is possible this afternoon, especially west of I-71.

On Memorial Day, The Akron Canton Airport reached 90 degrees, breaking the previous record of 88 degrees set in 2012, 1914 and 1904.

Cleveland Hopkins reached 86 degrees, with most other cities mirroring those temperatures.

Scattered storms likely Thursday and Friday of this week followed by cooler air for the weekend. More seasonable weather ahead.
