CLEVELAND — It wouldn’t be an April day in Cleveland without some wild weather swings. We don’t mean to be the bearer of bad news but there’s a chance for accumulating snow Wednesday afternoon.
Earlier Wednesday morning, a burst of snow covered Mayfield Road near I-271.
Lingering cold air will bring a wintry mix of rain and wet snow during the afternoon.
Plan on the first rain drops just after 1pm. Rain mixing over to snow likely from 2-6 p.m. followed by a gradual taper. Later tonight, we clear out in most spots with only limited lake effect snow showers east of Cleveland.
This isn't the first time we had snow this month. The first time snow was on April 9. In case you're wondering: On average, Cleveland gets around 3.3 inches of snow in April while Akron receives around 2.7 inches.
A look ahead
On Friday snow scattered snow with accumulations greeting us again, with 1 inch to maybe even more than three inches possible in some spots. Then, we should warm up as temperatures shoot up to the mid-50s for most areas this weekend. Rain may also mix in south toward US Route 30.
