Strong cold front digging into Ohio's summer-like heat could bring damaging wind and hail with today's thunderstorms

CLEVELAND — Our preview of summer weather has been a great change-up from the 50s we had for months. It was only a preview, though. Summer doesn't start for another month, officially. Mother Nature is balancing this heat out with a much cooler weekend on tap. That's where today's storms come in.

All of this super warm and humid air will fuel strong storms this afternoon. A strong cold front sweeping across Ohio today will be the trigger.

Plan on storms building just after noon with frequent lightning, heavy rain and maybe even damaging wind. Hail is possible but today's main threat will be power outages from trees coming down and flooding from heavy rain.

Make sure you're on high alert from noon to 6 p.m. That will be prime time for storms development.
