A Stark County sheriff’s deputy was treated for a fractured wrist after he was hit by a vehicle while directing traffic Friday night.
The 46-year-old deputy was standing near his patrol car in the southbound lane of State Route 93 when he was hit by a 2016 Dodge Ram pickup truck. McCollister was wearing a reflective vest and using a flashlight at the time he was struck, according to authorities.
The driver of the truck was not injured in the incident. The deputy was transported to Aultman Hospital for treatment.
Drugs and alcohol are not considered factors in the crash.
The incident remains under investigation.
