MANSFIELD, Ohio — Nearly a dozen firefighters in Mansfield are under quarantine after two others tested positive for COVID-19, according to city officials.
Mansfield Safety Service Director Lori A. Cope confirmed to News 5 Wednesday that currently, two firefighters have coronavirus and 11 other firefighters are taking precautionary quarantine measures.
Cope says that the number of firefighters in quarantine fluctuates due to individuals recovering and the possibility of new cases.
The Mansfield Fire Department has 91 total firefighters. Emergency services shouldn’t be affected by the number of firefighters in quarantine, according to Cope.
“This will have no impact whatsoever on city protection simply because we are handling all calls as usual with our current staffing, and we have available mutual aid as needed,” Cope said.
