COLUMBUS, Ohio — On Friday, Governor Mike DeWine said he woke up to an email that really put a smile on his face. It was from a parent whose 7-year-old child had made a flag for the family because they didn’t have one to fly.

DeWine had likened coronavirus to an attack on Pearl Harbor and urged Ohioans to unfurl and fly the American flag to honor the nation and its fighting spirit.

“Put the flag up, we are all in this together,” DeWine said. “We have been attacked, not by a foreign enemy but certainly by this godawful virus.”

The email said, "Mr. DeWine, we do not have an American flag to hang outside our home. Today after your news conference, my 7-year-old daughter made this flag for our house in honor of your request."

“I would like to thank 7-year-old Elaina in Radnor, Ohio for the beautiful flag,” DeWine said Friday.

Nice job, Elaina!
