CLEVELAND — Heinen's Grocery Store showed appreciation for its employees who are working through the COVID-19 pandemic with a surprise gift—a thank you note and $100 cash.

After receiving comments from customers praising the efforts of those working through the pandemic—helping ensure their communities have access to food and supplies at Heinen’s locations across the state—the store decided to acknowledge those efforts with a cash bonus.

Employees received thank-you notes from Heinen’s owners, brothers Tom and Jeff Heinen, for their extraordinary efforts during a stressful time.

“It takes the complete team working together from the warehouse and manufacturing, the drivers, the stores and the office to deliver what our customers are raving about. In the craziness of last week, it is easy to forget you are serving as the lifeline for so many, in so many ways that go beyond just providing food,” the Heinen brothers wrote in the letter.

Inside each letter was $100 in cash, a small yet powerful way to thank their employees for their efforts.
