STARK COUNTY, Ohio — A 27-year-old man riding a motorcycle was killed in a crash involving a semi-truck on State Route 172 in Tuscarawas Township, located in Stark County, according to a release from the Ohio State Highway Patrol.
On Thursday, state troopers responded to the crash just after 4 p.m. at the intersection of Route 172 and State Route 93.
A 46-year-old man was traveling eastbound in a semi-truck when, state patrol says, he failed to yield the right of way while making a left turn north onto State Route 93, causing the motorcycle rider, identified as Zachary Weaver, to hit the semi as it was making the turn.
Weaver was ejected from the motorcycle and sustained fatal injuries. He was pronounced dead at the scene by the Stark County Coroner. State troopers said he was not wearing a helmet at the time of the crash and had a temporary motorcycle permit.
The driver of the semi was not injured.
The crash remains under investigation.
