The Achievement Centers for Children will once again host "A Most Excellent Race," to raise critical dollars for Camp Cheerful in Strongsville on Sunday, June 24.
Camp Cheerful, now in operation for 72 years, is home to multiple programs for individuals who have a wide variety of physical and mental disabilities.
The program is going a long way to help families like Michele and Tony Tomecko, and their 11-year-old son Kenny, who was born more than three months premature.
"Camp Cheerful has so many activities that my son loves," Michele Tomecko said.
"He feels like he’s a part of something, it’s good for the kids, it’s good for the parents. It’s much needed," she said.
Walk-up registration for "A Most Excellent Race" starts at 7 a.m. at Beaumont School in Cleveland Heights.
The event starts at 9 a.m. and includes at 10K and 5K run, as well as a 5K and 1-mile walk.
Camp Cheerful serves more than 1,000 individuals every year.
