AKRON, Ohio — Akron police are investigating after a 17-year-old flagged down officers and said he was shot in the back while sitting in his car.
According to authorities, the teen told officers the shooting happened in the 800 block of Palmetto Avenue just after 8 p.m.
After being struck, the teen drove to S. Arlington Street and Palmetto Avenue where he flagged down an officer.
Police said they found two bullet holes in the car as well as shell casings at the scene.
The teen was taken to a nearby hospital for treatment. His injury was not believed to be life-threatening, police said. Another teen, who was a passenger in the vehicle, was not injured.
A specific description of the shooter or shooters was not provided.
