29-year-old man shot, killed in Akron; police seeking information from public

AKRON, Ohio — Akron Police are investigating a shooting that left a 29-year-old man dead and a 19-year-old man injured.

The shooting happened at 6:30 p.m. Wednesday.

The men were walking on Chittenden Street when they were shot.

The 29-year-old man was transported to Akron City Hospital where he later died. His identity has not been released.

The 19-year-old sustained a graze wound and is expected to survive.

Police said that according to preliminary information, it appears two people fired multiple gunshots at the men and fled the scene. Several houses were struck by gunfire.
