AKRON, Ohio — A 47-year-old woman was shot Thursday night after she answered her door and was confronted by an unknown person.
The shooting happened in the 100 block of Hyde Avenue around 10 p.m., according to the Akron Police Department.
Police said the woman heard a knock at her front door and when she opened it an unknown person was standing there. The man asked about another person by name and then stepped off the porch, opened fire and struck the woman in her thigh.
Following the shooting, the man ran off.
The woman was taken to Cleveland Clinic Akron General Hospital. She was treated for non-life-threatening injuries, police said.
Authorities weren’t able to provide a specific description of the shooter.
