AKRON, Ohio — A 64-year-old Akron man has been arrested after he made arrangements with an undercover deputy to pay cash for sexual conduct with a 10-year-old girl, according to the Summit County Sheriff's Office.
Dean Stephenson, 64, of Akron, has been charged with attempted rape and importuning-telecommunication.
In February 2021, the Summit County Sheriff’s Office started an investigation into Stephenson who was attempting to hire a young girl for sexual services.
The sheriff’s office said the investigation included several undercover operations. At one point, Stephenson acknowledged he was paying for sexual acts from a 10-year-old girl and arranged to meet the undercover deputy posing as the girl.
On March 3, Stephenson met the deputy at a location. He was found in possession of suspected methamphetamine.
Stephenson was booked into the Summit County Jail. Deputies executed a search warrant at his home. Additional charges are pending the outcome of the investigation.
