The Summit County Sheriff's Office arrested a man last week who was wanted for allegedly raping and kidnapping a woman in Akron's Highland Square area in September.

On Nov. 30, authorities arrested and charged Wayne J. Andrews, 29, of Akron on rape and kidnapping charges.

On Sept. 19,  a woman told police she left a business in the Highland Square area around 2:20 a.m. when she was approached by an unknown man.

The man forced her into her vehicle against her will and drove to an unknown street where he sexually assaulted her.

The victim was reportedly taken to an unknown address in Coventry Township where she lost consciousness.

She woke up after a short time and fled the residence to contact authorities.

The victim sought medical treatment after receiving a minor head injury during the incident.

Investigators were able to identify Andrews as the suspect. He is being held in the Summit County Jail.
