An Akron man was arrested after he shot his 2-year-old daughter in the head while attempting to unload a handgun, police say.
Shortly after 3 p.m. on Saturday, police responded to the 700 block of Dunbar Driver for reports of a child shot.
Dexter Brooks, 27, was reportedly attempting to unload a handgun when he fired a shot.
The shot went through a staircase and into the lower bathroom, where it his daughter in the head.
The 2-year-old was taken to Akron Children's Hospital in critical condition.
Brooks was booked into the Summit County Jail with a felony child endangering charge.
