An Akron man was sentenced on Friday for abusing two of his child relatives.

Paul Burkhammer, 53, of Polk Avenue, was sentenced to 11 years for second-degree child endangerment and two counts of third-degree child abduction by Summit County Common Pleas Court Judge Tammy O'Brien, according to a Summit County Prosecutor's Office news release.

Burkhammer was charged in April after he bound the two children with duct tape and smacked their feet with a wire hanger. He also punched one the children in the stomach and hit their head hard enough to cause a concussion, release said.

Burkhammer pleaded guilty to the charges in July. He was being held in the Summit County Jail.
