AKRON, Oho — Authorities in Akron detonated a pipe bomb that was found Wednesday in the city’s southeast side.
Firefighters responded to the 1300 block of Kelly Avenue for a report of a bomb found in the area, according to an Akron Fire Department spokesperson.
Akron police said a person mowing their lawn discovered the pipe bomb on top of a storm grate.
Police do not know when the device was dropped off.
After confirming that the device was an explosive, the Summit County Bomb Squad responded to the scene and safely detonated the bomb, the fire department stated.
No injuries were reported.
Authorities have not released any additional information about the incident.
