TALLMADGE — A 33-year-old Tallmadge man was arrested after he barricaded himself inside his home and allegedly set his upstairs bedroom on fire during a SWAT standoff with officers on Tuesday, according to a release from police.

Aaron G. Cook, 33, of Tallmadge was arrested and charged with aggravated arson.

At around 7:30 a.m., Tallmadge officers responded to the 1100 block of Ledgebrook Drive for a disturbance reported by neighbors.

Gregory barricaded himself inside the residence and broke most of the windows on the house as police from Tallmadge and Mogadore surrounded the house.

Police called Summit County Sheriff’s SWAT team after officers smelled gas coming from the house. As SWAT arrived, Gregory ignited his upstairs bedroom, causing deputies to conduct an emergency breach and take him from the upstairs room, according to the release.

Authorities said no injuries were reported. Gregory remains in custody at the Summit County Jail.
