Man shot, killed during home invasion in Akron, police say

AKRON, Ohio — A 31-year-old man was killed and another man was injured Saturday during a home invasion on Wall Street in Akron's North Hill neighborhood, police said in a report.

Officers responded Saturday at around 11:30 p.m. to shots fired inside a home in the 800 block of Wall Street.

When officers arrived, a 31-year-old man was found with an apparent gunshot wound. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

A second victim, a 34-year-old man, transported himself to Summa Akron City Hospital with a gunshot wound. His injury is not considered life-threatening.

Akron police said investigators are working to determine the exact circumstances surrounding the home invasion and shooting.

The Summit County Medical Examiner’s Office will conduct an autopsy. The victim’s name is being withheld pending positive identification and family notifications.

No arrests have been made. Anyone with information is asked to call the Akron Police Department Detective Bureau at 330-375-2490.
