AKRON, Ohio — A man police were looking for in connection with the death of a 52-year-old woman in Akron last week has been found dead in California.

According to authorities, the suspect, Chester “Billy” Walker, 53, appears to have killed himself in Santa Monica.

Walker, who had been deemed “armed and dangerous” by the U.S. Marshals Service had been on the run since being identified as the alleged killer of Twyla Pettiford on June 18.

Pettiford’s body was found in her home in the 1700 block of Manchester Road after she failed to show up for work on June 17.

Police conducting a welfare check on the woman found her. She had been shot multiple times. Walker was later identified as the alleged shooter.

Few details about the homicide have been released. The motive remains unknown.
