Posted

The Democratic mayor of Akron took a rare foray into national politics and penned a letter to the people of his city about the impending presidency of Donald Trump.

Dan Horrigan, elected in 2015, urged his constituents to move forward together following the election of Trump. He said the president-elects most pressing responsibility is that of "tone-setter," and implored him to reach out to all Americans and show that there is "no room in our United States for misogyny, racism, bigotry and hatred."

Horrigan spoke on the wide diversity of people living in Akron and vowed to be a mayor for each person in the city. His letter carried strong themes of unity and inclusion throughout.
