AKRON, Ohio — A mother who was sentenced to 18 months in prison after her 2-year-old daughter froze to death on her front porch has been granted early release.

Tierra M. Williams was released from prison Wednesday after serving just under three months of her sentence, according to the Summit County Prosecutor’s Office.

As part of her release conditions, Williams will be placed on community control for 18 months.

Williams was sent to prison after pleading guilty to one count of felony child endangering.

On the afternoon of Feb. 2, 2018, police were called to a home in the 1300 block of Doty Drive, Akron, after Williams found her daughter unresponsive on the front porch, authorities said.

The girl was taken to Akron Children's Hospital where she later died.

Williams had left the child with the girl’s father, Dariaun D. Parker, while she went out for a couple of hours. Parker, who worked a night shift, fell asleep while watching the girl and she went outside into the cold, authorities said.

Parker later pleaded guilty to the same charge as Williams, and he was also given a prison sentence of 18 months.
