AKRON, Ohio — The Ohio Department of Transportation hopes to reopen all eastbound lanes on Interstate 76-77 in Akron later this week or by March 25 at the latest, News 5 media partner at the Akron Beacon Journal reports.

The portion of the highway was reduced to one lane and the agency closed ramps in the area to make emergency repairs to the East Avenue bridge that goes over the interstate.

The Akron Beacon Journal said ODOT had hoped to reopen the lanes and ramps by mid-March but there was a delay in making repairs because of the cold weather.

The work to the bridge involves fixing beams damaged when by a bulldozer being hauled by a tractor-trailer struck the bridge in December.
