PlusOne Communications' Akron facility closing, eliminating around 155 positions

AKRON, Ohio — PlusOne Communications, a call center located on Main Street in Akron, is closing its facility and eliminating over 100 positions as of May 1, the company announced Monday.

All positions and jobs at the facility, which is estimated at around 155 people, will be eliminated as of May 1 with the exception of fewer than six employees who will be retained for around three weeks longer to perform “wind-up duties.”

PlusOne Communications informed the City of Akron of the facility’s closure, pursuant of the Worker Adjustment and Retraining Notification Act (WARN Act).

The company said that bumping rights in this case do not exists as all employees are being terminated and the employees are not covered under a collective bargaining agreement or represented by a union.
