AKRON, Ohio — A 19-year-old man from Barberton was arrested in Akron Tuesday evening when police found a handgun concealed in a Taco Bell bag while searching his car during a traffic stop.

Jordan Layton faces charges of carrying concealed weapons and improper handling of a firearm in a motor vehicle, both fourth-degree felonies, according to court records.

Authorities said that Layton was driving a 2007 Mercury Milan near Pioneer Street and Shawnee Path when he was pulled over for an equipment violation.

During the traffic stop, Layton gave officers consent to search his car. Officers found a .25 caliber handgun inside a Taco Bell bag that was stuffed under the driver's seat, authorities said.

Layton has an arraignment scheduled for Friday in Akron Municipal Court.
