AKRON, Ohio — Police have arrested a suspect in a fatal shooting that occurred in Akron Saturday morning.
Around 6:14 a.m., police were called to the 800 block of Cordova Avenue where they found 64-year-old Melvin Peters dead with a gunshot wound to his back.
Peters was found in his bedroom, police said.
Police arrested 27-year-old Donnell Lawson, who they believe to be Peters’ nephew.
Lawson was in the home at the time of the shooting and later admitted to shooting and killing Peters, police said.
Lawson was charged with aggravated murder.
