Two boys were robbed of their hoverboards in Akron over the weekend.
According to police, the first robbery happened Friday around 3:30 p.m. in the 1300 block of Onondago Avenue. Police said a 12-year-old boy was outside when he was approached by a black male, who demanded the hoverboard. When the boy refused, the suspect allegedly pushed the boy off the hoverboard, grabbed it and then hit the boy in the head. He ran from the scene with the toy.
The boy was treated by paramedics for minor injuries. He described the suspect as a 17-year-old black male between 5-foot 10-inches and 6 feet tall. He was wearing a black jacket and red and white shoes.
The second robbery happened just five hours later in the 400 block of Bishop Street.
The 9-year-old victim said he was approached by two black males while he was standing on the steps to his house. One of the suspects pulled out a handgun and pointed it at the boy's head. The suspect then told the boy to hand over his hoverboard. The boy handed it over and the suspects fled. The boy was not injured, according to police.
The suspects were described as two black males between the ages of 14 and 18. One had a fade haircut, according to police, and was wearing all dark clothing. The other had an afro and was wearing all dark clothing with black boots.
