AKRON, Ohio — A traffic stop in Summit County on Jan. 3 led to the discovery of one pound of meth worth around $40,000 and the arrest of an Akron man.
Richard W. Hayes, 38, has been charged with possession of methamphetamine and cocaine, trafficking in drugs and possession of drug paraphernalia, according to the Ohio State Highway Patrol.
The traffic stop occurred on Jan. 3 around 10:36 p.m. on Arlington Street in Akron. Authorities say Hayes was pulled over for an improper lane change violation.
During the stop, authorities said they spotted drug paraphernalia sitting in plain view inside the car.
Hayes was arrested and taken to the Summit County Jail. He is facing up to 33 years in prison and up to a $60,000 fine if convicted.
