AKRON, Ohio — The popular crime and investigations TV series “Forensic Files” is returning to HLN on Feb. 23 and the series premiere is centered in Akron.

The first episode of “Forensic Files II” called “Buried Secrets” will reexamine a murder that occurred in Akron in 1985 involving Scott Purk.

Purk told police his wife Margaret had hanged herself and her death was ruled a suicide. Years later, a fire led investigators to take another look at the case and in doing so, determined she had been murdered by Purk, according to an article by News 5 media partner Akron Beacon Journal.

Later in the season, “Forensic Files II” will feature an episode called “The Car Accident” which will look back on the arrest and conviction of Akron General ER Dr. Yazeed Essa. Essa’s wife Rosemarie died after a minor car accident in Cuyahoga County, but after investigating, authorities began suspecting her husband was involved, the ABJ article said.

“Forensic Files II” will be narrated by Bill Camp, known for his work in “Dark Waters,” “Joker” and “The Outsider.”

The series premiere airs on HLN on Sunday, Feb. 23 at 10 p.m.
