STARK COUNTY, Ohio — Stark County drivers are getting frustrated with the amount of roundabouts, according to our media partners at the Canton Repository.

The Ohio Department of Transportation announced they are planning to build more in the coming years, despite public skepticism.

An ODOT spokesperson said roundabouts reduce congestion and increase safety.

Planners consider them ideal for intersections with a high number of serious accidents or regularly congested intersections with moderate but not heavy traffic. Roundabouts, which often cost $1 million to $1.2 million to construct, can be one lane or two lanes.

Stark County has six roundabouts, according to the Stark County Area Transportation Study.
