AKRON, Ohio — Tim Hensley, 58, was shot to death a few weeks ago inside of his van parked next to Akron Cheap Cars and Arlington Street Muffler on South Arlington Street. He worked for the businesses for six years.

Akron detectives continue to investigate leads, but have not made any arrests in the killing on the east side of town.

Summit County Crimestoppers is offering a reward up to $5,000 for information that leads to the killer. Lt. David Whiddon hopes the reward motivates someone to come forward with details on a suspect.

"He spent a lot of time in the van and not a lot of people knew about it, so we know that there's some people he associated with that know something," Whiddon said.

Hensley's body was found by his boss, who became concerned when Hensley didn't show up for work on January 8.

There have been six murders in Akron in 2021. Four of them remain unsolved.

In 2020, there were 50 murders in the city, the most Akron has experienced in many years.

Tipsters with information on Hensley's murder, or other cases, are urged to call Summit County Crimestoppers at 330-434-COPS and may remain anonymous.
