The fire caused extensive damage to the exterior of the home and filled the home with smoke.

Akron firefighters carried a dog in a crate from the home and two others were able to run out. All three dogs were said to be doing fine and didn't need any medical attention.

The residents of the home were not home at the time of the fire.

The cause of the fire is under investigation but, according to Akron firefighters, it appears to be accidental.

No injuries were reported.
