Akron firefighters helped three dogs from a burning home on Bender Avenue early Tuesday morning.
Fire crews said the fire started around 2 a.m. on the patio of a home in the 300 block of Bender Avenue.
The fire caused extensive damage to the exterior of the home and filled the home with smoke.
Akron firefighters carried a dog in a crate from the home and two others were able to run out. All three dogs were said to be doing fine and didn't need any medical attention.
The residents of the home were not home at the time of the fire.
