SPRINGFIELD TOWNSHIP, Ohio — The Ohio State Highway Patrol is investigating a two-vehicle fatal crash that occurred in Springfield Township Monday afternoon.

Around 2:59 p.m., a 2007 Chevrolet Silverado was driving south on State Route 91, Canton Road, near Rhoadesdale Avenue when it went left of center and struck a 2017 Hyundai Tucson that was traveling north.

The 21-year-old driver of the Chevy was transported to Akron City Hospital where he was treated and released, troopers said.

The driver of the Hyundai, 87-year-old Walter Worthy, was also transported to Akron City Hospital where he died from his injuries, according to troopers.

Both drivers were wearing their seat belts at the time of the crash, troopers said.

Alcohol is not suspected to be a factor. The crash remains under investigation.
