Two teens shot leaving party in Akron on Friday night, 13-year-old and 17-year-old charged

A 13-year-old and a 17-year-old were arrested in connection with a shooting that injured two other teens at a party on Akron's northeast side on Friday night.

According to police, a large fight broke out near the Italian Center, 134 East Tallmadge Road, Akron, around midnight.

While officers were patrolling the area, one of the teens fired shots into the air and then took off on foot. He was found hiding behind a nearby dumpster and arrested. A second male was also taken into custody.

Authorities found two loaded handguns at the scene.

Police said a 15-year-old boy and a 14-year-old girl were found in a parking lot with gunshot wounds. The teens were transported by EMS to Akron Children's Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

The 13-year-old and 17-year-old were charged with carrying concealed weapons, felonious assault and inducing panic. They were transported to the Summit County Juvenile Detention Center.
