University of Akron issues safety advisory after robbery near campus

AKRON, Ohio — The University of Akron has issued a Public Safety Advisory after a man, who is not a student, was robbed in an area south of campus on Sunday.

At 11:25 p.m. on Katheryn Place, the victim told police that someone approached him from behind and put an object to his head that was thought to be a gun before demanding his wallet.

The alleged robber fled westbound toward downtown Akron.

The victim said no weapon was seen during the robbery.

The alleged robber is described as a male wearing a black shirt and black jeans, with a height of approximately 6 feet, 2 inches.

Anyone who has information about this robbery is asked to call city detectives at 330-375-2490.
