Mayor of Akron, police chief address recent gun violence

The City of Akron held a news conference at 4 p.m. Monday to address the recent spate of gun violence in the city.

Mayor Dan Horrigan, Akron Police Chief Ken Ball and public safety leaders hosted the news conference to provide updated information on the recent homicides, as well as to urge anyone with information to assist police in making arrests, and to ask the community to join the mayor in calling for peace in Akron.

A teenager was killed and two others were injured in West Akron on Sunday.

In the week before, there were multiple robberies, assaults, shootings and homicides in Akron.
