Woman robbed at gunpoint while trying to sell cell phone in Akron

AKRON, Ohio — A 20-year-old woman in Akron was robbed at gunpoint Sunday afternoon after arranging to sell a cell phone to a person she met on Facebook.

According to Akron police, the robbery happened around 3:15 p.m. outside a convenience store located in the 1400 block of Aster Avenue.

Authorities say the woman drove to the store and after arriving, a man got in her car, pointed a gun at her and demanded her belongings. Another man also attempted to open the driver’s side door and get into the car.

The woman gave the men her wallet and two cell phones. The robbers then ran off but not before one of them fired a shot while fleeing, according to police.

A specific description of the robbers was not provided.
