15-year-old boy found dead in Cleveland field with gunshot wound to chest

CLEVELAND — A 15-year-old boy was found dead in a field Thursday afternoon, according to Cleveland police.

Around 2:40 p.m., officers were called to the area of East 105th Street and Garfield Avenue in Cleveland’s Glenville neighborhood after receiving a report of a body in a field.

Once on scene, officers found a 15-year-old boy in a field with a gunshot wound to his chest. EMS declared him dead on the scene, police said.

The preliminary information indicated that the officers were called to the area the night before, around 10 p.m., for reports of shots fired, but no victims were located, according to police.

A nearby house had also been struck by gunfire but the occupants had not reported that the night before, police said.

Police have not made any arrests at this time. Anyone with information regarding the incident is asked to call police at 216-623-5464.
