2 children found home alone after fire breaks out at East Side home

CLEVELAND — Cleveland police are investigating after a fire broke out at a home with two children inside alone.

The fire happened in the 2400 block of East 36th Street.

Fire officials said it was a small fire in the back of the apartment.

A 2-year-old boy was transported to the hospital with smoke inhalation.

A 5-year-old boy was transported to Metro Hospital in stable condition.

Police said the mother has been arrested for child endangerment.

The children have been turned over to another family member, according to police.

The cause of the fire is unknown.
