CLEVELAND — An alleged drunk driver injured two Cleveland police officers who were working a traffic crash on I-90 Friday night.

The crash happened shortly before midnight on I-90 near I-71.

The two officers were sitting in a police cruiser behind a vehicle that had been involved in a previous crash, authorities said. A 19-year-old man was also inside the car with the police officers.

When a 2017 Jeep Compass tried to change lanes to move away from the cruiser, it was struck from behind by a 2016 Nissan Sentra. The impact caused the jeep to then collide with the police cruiser, authorities said.

The officers and the 19-year-old man who had been inside the cruiser were transported to a nearby hospital, authorities said. The Jeep’s three occupants were also transported.

The Nissan’s driver refused medical treatment. She was later arrested on an OVI charge, authorities said.

The officers were treated and released. The condition of the other individuals is unknown.
