2 dead after West Side drive-by shooting

CLEVELAND — Cleveland police are investigating a fatal drive-by shooting.

The shooting happened around 12:30 a.m. in the 3100 block of West 31st Street.

When police arrived, they found five people inside of a Nissan Pathfinder.

A 29-year-old man identified as Michael E. Cruz, 29, of Cleveland and a 24-year-old woman, identified as Erneasha Swift, suffered from multiple gun shot wounds and were pronounced dead at the scene, according to the medical examiner.

A 29-year-old woman was transported to Metro Hospital with a possible gunshot wound to the head.

A 5-year-old boy and a 1-year-old boy were not injured.

Police said that preliminary information indicates that someone inside of a dark colored SUV opened fire on the Nissan and drove away.

No arrests have been made.
