CLEVELAND — Two Cleveland firefighters and two Cleveland EMS paramedics were injured early Saturday morning when the ambulance they were in was struck by a car while they were en route to the hospital with a gunshot wound victim.

The crash happened around 12:15 a.m. near Woodworth Avenue and East 152nd Street.

According to Cleveland police, the ambulance was transporting a 29-year-old man who was injured in a shooting near East 152nd Street and Lakeshore Boulevard.

When the ambulance, which was heading south on East 152nd Street, reached the intersection of East 152nd Street and Woodworth Avenue, a woman heading west on Woodworth Avenue in a 2016 Kia Sorento hit the side of the emergency vehicle by its rear axle causing it to nearly tip over. The ambulance then went left of center, hit a 2011 Honda CR-V and then a utility pole, authorities said.

The gunshot wound victim later succumbed to his injuries. The man's name has not been released.

The firefighters and paramedics were all treated and released, according to police.

The crash remains under investigation.
