CLEVELAND — Two people were injured after a fire broke out at a home on Cleveland's West Side.

The fire happened Saturday night in the 3700 block of West 47th Place around 10:48 p.m.

Fire crews arrived on scene to find heavy fire on the first floor extending to the second floor and advancing to the house next door, authorities said.

A neighbor was assisted out of the nearby home by Cleveland police officers responding to the scene.

A 90-year-old woman and a 65-year-old man had evacuated the house before crews arrived on scene.

The man was reportedly on fire but extinguished by a neighbor. Both were transported to Metro Hospital with severe burns and are in critical condition.

Cleveland Fire was able to put out the flames and no other injuries were reported.

The cause of the fire is currently under investigation.
