19-year-old shot, killed near Legacy Entertainment Center

CLEVELAND — Cleveland police are investigating a shooting that left a woman dead.

The shooting happened in the 3500 block of East 103rd Street at 1 a.m.

A 19-year-old woman, later identified as Catera Fowler, suffered from two gunshot wounds.

She was transported to University Hospital, where she later died.

Police said they learned at the scene that a fight occurred inside of Legacy Entertainment Complex in the 10300 block of Union Avenue and security ordered everyone out.

One suspect was seen running from the club with a gun shot wound to the leg, according to police. The suspect, 26-year-old Eric Black, was seen shooting back toward the establishment and struck the victim, police said.

Police said Black was transported by private vehicle to University Hospital, where he was released and arrested.

Police did not say whether Black was the same 26-year-old man shot near East 105th Street.

Police said at the same time these shootings happened, they also responded to a shots fired call on East 13th Street and St. Clair Avenue.

An officer pursued the vehicle until West 25th Street and Detroit Avenue.

Police said the vehicle crashed at West 45th Street and Detroit Avenue, where the suspects fled on foot.

One male is in custody and a firearm was recovered, according to police.

A 21-year-old woman suffered a serious leg injury and was transported to Metro Hospital.
