Three would-be burglars shot on Cleveland's east side

Three would-be burglars were shot Wednesday night when they attempted to break into a home on Cleveland’s east side.

At around 7:50 p.m., police responded to the 11500 block of Harvey Avenue for a burglary in progress. When they arrived, authorities found one of the suspects in the front yard of the house with a gunshot wound to the stomach.

The two other suspects were found on scene and had also been shot. Officer’s provided medical attention until EMS arrived. 

Police said the three individuals arrived to the house armed with various weapons and when they tried to gain entry to the residence shots were fired by the suspects and the resident.  It is unclear who fired the shots that injured the would-be burglars.

The three suspects were identified as 32-year-old Shanika Jackson, 50-year-old Tabitha Jackson and 28-year-old Victoria Jackson.  According to police, Shanika Jackson is the ex-girlfriend of the resident. Police also said all three suspects are related.

All three were charged with aggravated burglary and felonious assault.

The incident is still under investigation.
