56-year-old woman shot and killed on Cleveland's East Side

CLEVELAND — Cleveland police are investigating the death of a woman who was shot on the city’s East Side early Saturday morning.

The shooting happened around 5:45 a.m. in the 500 block of East 109th Street in Cleveland’s Glenville neighborhood.

The victim, a 56-year-old woman, was taken to the hospital with a gunshot wound to her leg. She was pronounced dead a short time later, police said.

The woman’s name has not been released.

The woman’s death marks the second homicide on Cleveland’s East Side within 24 hours.

Friday evening a 44-year-old man was shot and killed on East 149th Street.
