CLEVELAND — Two people are dead in an apparent murder-suicide that happened late Sunday night in Cleveland's Ohio City neighborhood.

On Sunday at around 11 p.m., Cleveland police officers responded to the 2600 block of Division Avenue for a male shot.

On scene, a 32-year-old woman told police that a 30-year-old man was shot inside the apartment. She told police the alleged shooter, who was identified as a 70-year-old man, and her daughter, were still inside the apartment.

Officers entered the apartment and carried the 30-year-old victim, who had a gunshot wound to the chest, outside. Officers found the 12-year-old girl inside her bedroom and escorted her out to safety, according to the police report.

Gunshots were heard in the apartment when officers attempted to locate the 70-year-old man. SWAT entered the apartment and found the 70-year-old man dead from an apparent gunshot wound to the head.

The 30-year-old victim was taken to MetroHealth Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead.

Through a preliminary investigation, police learned that the 32-year-old woman lived with the 30-year-old male victim, along with the 12-year-old girl.

The 70-year-old suspect, who was described as a family friend, was staying inside the apartment.

The deadly shooting remains under investigation.
