CLEVELAND — A 9-year-old girl was shot in the chest in what appears to be an accidental shooting on Cleveland’s East Side Monday, Cleveland police confirmed.
Officers responded to the 3800 block of East 186th Street for a report of a 9-year-old girl shot in the chest, police said. The child was taken to Rainbow Babies and Children’s Hospital by EMS for treatment. At this time, the child is conscious and talking.
A 15-year-old boy was taken into custody in connection with the incident, police said.
Police later stated that the shooting appears to be accidental.
The matter remains under investigation.
